Page 137, after line 39, insert:
"3.  Out of the amounts for Governor's School Payments, the Board of Education shall provide $75,000 the first year from the general fund to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University for the state share of the incremental cost of a summer residential Governor's School for Agriculture, to be based on the greater of the composite index or 50 percent.   Local school divisions may nominate students to attend the school, with the process for final selection conducted by the university.  
Local school divisions shall pay the required local match for their students selected to attend the school and must certify that no tuition is assessed students for participation in this program. The school will operate during the summer of 1999 and shall be limited to 50 students."


Explanation
(This amendment increases provides the state share of funding for a summer residential Governor's School for Agriculture. A feasibility study for the school has been completed. The amendment would allow the school to operate an initial program during the Summer of 1999.)
