"B. Out of the amounts for this Item, $65,500 the first year and $112,563 the second year from the general fund shall be transferred to the Fish Passage Grant and Revolving Loan Fund (§29-101.2, Code of Virginia). These funds shall be made available to meet the Commonwealth's portion of the non-federal cost share for an Army Corps of Engineers feasibility study on the removal of the Embrey Dam located on the Rappahannock River. These appropriations constitute the first- and second-year funding of a multi-year commitment by the Commonwealth to provide 50 percent of the non-federal portion of this project."
Explanation
(This amendment provides $178,063 of general fund support to match the federal funding requirements for an Army Corps of Engineers feasibility study. The engineering study will focus on the removal of the Embrey Dam located on the Rappahannock River. With the dam's removal, some 71 miles of the river would be accessible to migratory fish.)
