Explanation
(This amendment increases funding to $100,000 for each year for the Virginia Wing Civil Air Patrol. The Virginia Wing maintains 11 aircraft and 24r ground vehicles throughout the Commonwealth to support the Department in search and rescue and disaster relief functions. Current funding is not adequate to cover the expenses of this all- volunteer operation. The Virginia Wing's headquarters, located at the Chesterfield County Airport, is in urgent need of repairs and modifications for handicap accessibility. The increased funding will be used for this, as well as for routine maintenance and insurance coverage on aircraft and ground vehicles.)
