Explanation
(This amendment provides assistance to local governments to help offset project costs for reducing flooding hazards in the Roanoke Valley. The Federal Emergency Management Agency provides federal funds for these types of projects through two programs, Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). Funding for these projects will be 75 percent federal with a 25 percent local and state match. This amendment provides half of the matching portion required for FMA projects in the Cities of Roanoke and Salem and HMGP projects in the City of Roanoke and Roanoke County.)
