Explanation
(This amendment eliminates one of the $750,000 pilot programs proposed for the second year in a distance learning initiative. The pilot program remaining would provide grants to a consortium of higher education institutions that offer academic degree programs utilizing electronic distance learning technologies. The amendment also includes The Electronic Campus of Virginia as project manager for approved grants and general advisor on the initiative. The Electronic Campus is composed of Virginia Tech, George Mason University, Mary Baldwin College, Old Dominion University, the University of Virginia and five community colleges -- Central Virginia, J. Sargeant Reynolds, New River, Northern Virginia and Southwest Virginia.)
