(This amendment provides $50,000 the first year from nongeneral funds for the administrative costs to include the Fort Barfoot Fire Department in Blackstone, Virginia as part of the Virginia Law Officers' Retirement System. Working for the the Department of Defense and Department of Military Affairs, they are the only fire department in the Commonwealth operated by state employees. This makes the fire department unique as other departments in the Commonwealth are local employees, federal employees, or contract employees. Firefighters in the Commonwealth receive some form of Hazardous Duty Retirement.)
