Page 361, after line 54, insert:

"3. Of the amounts in FF.1., $5,500,000 the first year and $5,500,000 the second year from general fund shall be used to establish a pilot program eligible to be implemented in all Virginia schools from third to twelfth grade that would provide schools with software to mitigate cyberbullying and harmful behavior, monitor classroom devices, and assist with suicide prevention. The software must be capable of monitoring students' internet browsing activity on only a school-issued device, including to detect and notify appropriate authorities if a student is repeatedly searching for content suggestive of the potential for self-harm or violence, or to detect other potential safety concerns such as cyberbullying or exposure to inappropriate content."



Explanation

(This amendment directs $5.5 million each year of the biennium from existing funds to establish a pilot program in Virginia schools from third to twelfth grade that would provide software to mitigate cyberbullying and harmful behavior, monitor classroom devices, and assist with suicide prevention.)
