"GG. Out of this appropriation, $3,025,000 the first year and $3,025,000 the second year from the general fund and $9,075,000 the first year and $9,075,000 the second year from nongeneral funds is provided to the Department of Medical Assistance Services to contract for services associated with handling all Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI)-only Medicaid renewal applications."

Explanation

(This amendment provides $3.0 million from the general fund and $9.1 million from nongeneral funds each year to allow the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) to contract for services associated with handling all Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI)-only Medicaid renewal applications. This is currently being handled through March 2024 when the unwinding period ends. During the unwinding period, DMAS has expanded the Cover Virginia contract to allow the contractor to process applications to renew eligibility for MAGI-only Medicaid applications which allows local departments of social services to address the application backlog and to focus on more complex application adjustments. Funding would allow the additional eligibility processing support for localities to continue on an ongoing basis. The estimated annual costs is based on 55,000 to 80,000 in estimated annual volume. Funding is eligible for a 75 percent federal Medicaid match rate for eligibility and enrollment activities.)
