Out of this appropriation, $2,104,607 from the general fund and $4,611,459 from nongereral funds the first year and $4,065,218 from the general fund and $9,070,391 from nongeneral funds the second year shall be provided to contract for services associated with handling all incoming mail currently directed to local Departments of Social Services including Medicaid benefit applications and renewal notices."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $2.1 million the first year and $4.1 million the second year from the general fund and $4.1 million the first year and $9.1 million from nongeneral funds the second year to the Department of Medical Assistance Services to contract for services associated with handling all incoming mail currently directed to local Departments of Social Services including Medicaid benefit applications and renewal notices. This will allow all returned mail to be processed in one centralized location and will expedite routing of applications to Cover Virginia and localities for processing. This amendment assists localities with handling the volumes of mail due to Medicaid redeterminations and new benefits applications by allowing for streamlining and standardizing front-end income mail processes as well as standardizing handling of other incoming mail types. The estimated annual costs comes from and estimated annual volume of 90,000 to 105,000 pieces of mail. Funding is eligible for a 75 percent federal Medicaid match rate for eligibility and enrollment activities.)
