"H. Out of this appropriation, $1,007,000 the first year from the general fund is provided to establish a permanent Violence Response Team site at Southside Medical Center."

Explanation

(This amendment provides $1.0 million the first year from the general fund to establish the first permanent Violence Response Team (VRT) site at Southside Medical Center (SMC) to care for patients in need of medical forensic exams in a trauma informed setting. The Violence Response Team is made up of specially trained forensic nurses, victim service advocates, and community health workers who respond and care for victims of violence. Since the creation of Bon Secours VRT, the team has been increasingly called to spend considerable time at Southside Medical Center, demonstrating the need for a new VRT in that location. A 2,200 square feet private space located near the SMC Emergency Department has been identified and will include two examination rooms, two waiting rooms, a consultation room, staff workstation and a staff resiliency room.)
