"OO. Out of this appropriation, $250,000 the first year from the general fund is provided for the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services to conduct a study to (i) determine the need for long-term care for individuals diagnosed with intellectual or developmental disabilities in the Commonwealth, (ii) estimate the current capacity of public and private facilities that provide skilled nursing, long-term care, and community care services for individuals diagnosed with intellectual or developmental disabilities within the Commonwealth, (iii) examine the current condition of the infrastructure of the state operated facilities, such as the Hiram W. Davis Medical Center, (iv) provide recommendations for increasing the capacity and updating the infrastructure of such state-operated facilities, (v) estimate the current capacity of community-based services for meeting the long-term care needs of these individuals, and (vi) provide recommendations for alternatives to facility-based care."
