"WWWW.  Out of this appropriation, $1,622,880 the first year and $1,622,880 the second year from the general fund shall be provided to the University of Virginia Health System to increase medical residency reimbursement for the University of Virginia Family Medicine Residency program from $17,871 to $38,270 per resident."

Explanation

(This amendment provides $1.6 million from the general fund each year and language to increase the reimbursement for the University of Virginia (UVA) Family Medicine Residency program from $17,871 to $38,270 per resident. This would provide parity with the amount that the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Department of Family Medicine and Community Health Residency program receives per resident. This increase in funding will provide needed financial stability for the program. The additional investment will also help to increase interest in Family Medicine and better prepare residents to meet the changing needs of Virginia’s communities.)
