Explanation

(This amendment provides $250.8 million the first year and $636.2 million the second year from the general fund to implement the provisions of House Bill 1152, which (i) requires that public school teachers be compensated at a rate that is at or above the national average for each step or level on a years of experience-based pay scale, (ii) provides a cost-of-living compensation adjustment for SOQ recognized positions in fiscal year 2025, and (iii) provides a 12 percent annual SOQ recognized positions in fiscal year 2026. For fiscal year 2026, the increase is net of the 2 percent compensation increase proposed in the introduced bill.)
