"SS. Out of this appropriation, $13,000,000 the first year and $61,000,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to support community school initiatives.

1. Of this amount, $5,000,000 the first year is provided to continue funding to recipients of community schools grants provided pursuant pursuant to Item 136. MM of Chapter 1, 2023 Special Session I. Any amounts unobligated in the first year shall be made available in the second year for the same purpose.

2. Of this amount, $8,000,000 the first year is provided to support Community School Development and Implementation Planning Grants.  Any amounts unobligated in the first year shall be made available in the second year for the same purpose.

3. Of this amount, $61,000,000 the second year is provided for the Community School Coordinator Program."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $74.0 million the over the biennium to effectuate several provisions of House Bill 625 of the 2024 General Assembly, which establishes support for community school models. This amendment provides (i) $5.0 million to continue into the new biennium funding for 2022-24 community school grant recipients, (ii) $8.0 million for Community School Development and Implementation Grants, and (iii) $61.0 million to support the Community School Coordinator Program. A companion amendment to Item 123 addresses other provisions of House Bill 625.)
