Explanation

(This amendment provides $300,000 each year for the Broadband Access for Charitable Organizations Grant Program is established to provide grants to charitable organizations for the documented costs associated with enhancing broadband access and strengthening the surrounding community. Costs eligible for reimbursement under the Program include costs related to the creation of a center for technology at a charitable organization's principal place of business for the purposes of (i) establishing intergenerational mentorship programs; (ii) accessing important public health information; (iii) teaching technological literacy; and (iv) creating a hub for the enhancement of broadband access to the community. The total value of reimbursement grants awarded annually to any charitable organization shall not exceed an amount equal to $1,000. The Program shall be administered by the Board. The Board may issue guidelines for the administration of the Program as it deems appropriate. The Board shall establish procedures for determining amounts and prioritizing the award of such grants if the moneys appropriated to the Program are not sufficient to provide each charitable organization the full grant amount for which it is eligible.)
