Explanation

(This amendment provides additional funding for a teacher preparation program that allows individuals working in schools who have bachelor's degrees, but are not licensed teachers (i.e. teacher's aides), to begin classroom teaching immediately as they work toward licensure. At the end of three years of online coursework and some in-person engagements, students will be eligible for full teaching licensure. With this amendment, JMU, in partnership with Longwood University and Old Dominion University, by the third year, will be able to produce 300 new licensed teachers per year.)
