"A. Out of the amounts in this Item, $500,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to address costs incurred by the Department of Motor Vehicles in developing an annual report of statewide and locality-level data related to driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or a combination thereof as recommended by the Virginia State Crime Commission and included in the provisions of SB 1398 of  the 2023 General Assembly."

Explanation

(This amendment provides $500,000 GF in FY 2024 to address any costs that may be incurred by the Department of Motor Vehicles in the development and dissemination of impaired driving trends in Virginia, as directed by SB 1398 of the 2023 General Assembly. The Crime Commission unanimously endorsed legislation requiring the DMV Highway Safety Office to collect existing data from various sources on DUI trends and enforcement across Virginia by both locality and individual law enforcement agencies and provide an annual comprehensive report on the status of impaired driving in the Commonwealth.)
