Page 511, after line 28, insert:

"A. Out of this appropriation, $100,000 the second year from the general fund is provided for the Department to make grants to local and regional fire service entities in the Commonwealth for the purpose of implementing early cancer screening and testing programs for firefighters to support early detection and intervention. Any distributions made to a local government or regional entity under this paragraph shall require a 50 percent match from non-state funding sources. The Department of Fire Programs shall provide a status report on the grant program to the Chair of the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee by November 1, 2023."

Explanation

(This amendment provides $100,000 GF the second year for a Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Grant program to support early cancer screening and testing programs for firefighters. Language requires a 50 percent match from local governments and regional entities. A status report shall be provided to the Chair of the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee by November 1, 2023.)
