"G. Included in the appropriation for this item is $2,000,000 the second year from the general fund for the Center for School and Campus Safety to award grants to local school divisions to support implementation of emergency communication technology tools to reduce emergency response time, improve incident management, and facilitate better coordination during emergencies on school property between first responders and school campuses. Any distributions made to a local government or regional entity under this paragraph shall require a 50 percent match from local funding sources. The Department shall establish an application process for awarding grants from the Fund, including criteria and procedures for determining the amount of a grant."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $2.0 million GF the second year to the Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety to provide grants to local school divisions to support implementation of emergency communication technology tools to reduce emergency response time, improve incident management, and facilitate better coordination during emergencies on school property between first responders and school campuses. Grants require a 50 percent local match.)
