"U. 1. Included in the appropriation for this item is $2,500,000 the second year from the general fund as an appropriation for the Virginia Center for Hospital-Based Violence Intervention, in association with the Virginia Hospital Research & Education Foundation, to support hospital-based violence intervention programs that identify and respond to the needs of survivors of sexual and domestic violence by implementing universal screening best practices, community based referrals, wrap around services, and data collection at Virginia hospitals. The Department shall establish guidelines for grant funds to reflect up-to-date best practices for sexual and domestic violence survivor response.

2. The Department of Criminal Justice Services shall report progress and outcomes on the program and relevant data collected. The report shall include data on the number of hospitals receiving grant funding, the status of grantee hospital-based violence intervention programs including staffing structure and hire dates, number of people screened, number of patients that disclosed experiencing sexual and/or domestic violence, departments within each grantee hospital that conducted screening, number of referrals to internal and community based services, number of patients who accessed follow-up services, and number of hospital staff trained to do screening, and any significant innovations from implementation.

(This amendment provides $2.5 million GF the second year for the Virginia Center for Hospital-Based Violence Intervention, in association with the Virginia Hospital Research & Education Foundation, to support hospital-based violence intervention programs that identify and respond to the needs of survivors of sexual and domestic violence. The Department of Criminal Justice Services shall report annually on the program's progress and outcomes.)
