Explanation

(This amendment provides $100,000 GF over the biennium for renovations and restoration of the Mary E. Branch Heritage Center. The building was constructed in 1926 and opened in 1927 as the Mary E. Branch Elementary School, a free school to educate Negro children. It was originally called the Farmville Colored School but was renamed Robert R. Moton High School. The requested funding will assist with renovations and provide services to the residents of Prince Edward County.)
