"DD. Out of this appropriation, $75,000 the second year from the general fund shall be provided to United Methodist Family Services to establish a new horticulture program that features a hydroponic and learning greenhouse and outdoor garden that will provide fresh produce to low-income individuals. The greenhouse shall also provide learning and vocational opportunities to vulnerable youth with special needs who will help grow the produce."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $75,000 the second year from the general fund for United Methodist Family Services(UMFS) to create a hydroponic and learning greenhouse, that will focus on producing fresh produce that shall be distributed to partner organizations who serve low-income clients. Those partners may include FeedMore, Shalom Farms, and other mission-aligned organizations. The greenhouse will also serve as learning space for UMFS youth as well as a workforce development program for underserved persons.)
