Out of the amounts in this item, $90,100,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to establish a Virginia Housing Stability Fund pilot program to provide monthly rental vouchers to households with income at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income, with priority given to families with children below age thirteen. Eligible households will receive a monthly rental voucher in an amount sufficient to allow the family to pay only 30 percent of their monthly income for housing.  The department shall use the 2022 initial guidelines for the fund, developed in conjunction with a stakeholder group, to administer the fund."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $90.1 million GF and eight positions in the second year to establish the Virginia Housing Stability Fund to provide monthly rental vouchers to households with income at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income, with priority given to families with children below age thirteen. Eligible households will receive a monthly rental voucher in an amount sufficient to allow the family to pay only 30 percent of their monthly income for housing.)
