"2. Out of this appropriation, $35,000 the first year from the general fund is provided to convene a work group to study: (i) the establishment of a Parents Advocacy Commission to provide training, qualification and oversight for court-appointed counsel who represent parents in child dependency cases; and (ii) the development of local or regional offices for a Parents Advocacy Commission. The work group shall report such recommendations to the Chairs of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee for Courts of Justice by November 1, 2023."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $35,000 GF the first year for the Office of the Children's Ombudsman to support a feasibility study regarding the establishment of a Parents Advocacy Commission, consistent with the provisions of Senate Bill 1443 of the 2023 General Assembly Session.)
