Item 340 #1s

Item 340 #1s

Health and Human Resources
Department of Social Services

Language

Page 425, line 42, after "Commonwealth.", insert:

"Refugee resettlement organizations and community-based organizations that serve refugees, asylum seekers, and special visa holders are eligible to apply for this funding. Funding may be used to support refugees, asylum seekers, and special visa holders with services and supports such as housing, childcare, transportation, workforce training, and credentialing.  Any monies remaining for this purpose shall not revert to the general fund but shall be carried forward for such purposes."

Explanation

(This amendment adds language to clarify the organizations that can apply for funding to assist refugees that relocate to the Commonwealth, expands the definition of who can be supported with such funds, and describes services that can be provided. Added language provides for the funding to be carried over into the next fiscal year if not totally expended in fiscal year 2023.)
