Page 162, after line 21, insert:

"FFF. Out of this appropriation, $50,000,000 the second year from the general fund is designated to support school safety and security grants. The Department of Education shall administer the program and develop guidelines. Funds may be used to support equipment and planning to improve safety and security. In determining grant awards, prioritization shall be placed on the severity of identified deficiencies and the school division's local ability to pay as identified by its local composite index. From this appropriation, $1,500,000 is provided to support safety and security at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News Public Schools and $4,000,000 is provided to support safety and security at Oak Street Elementary School in Falls Church City Public Schools."  



Explanation

(This amendment provides $50.0 million in school safety and security grants. The Department of Education is required to award grants based on developed guidelines that consider severity of identified deficiencies and a division's local ability to pay.)
