"8.) $1,560,630 to Direct Aid to Public Education (197) to provide a one-time pandemic bonus payment of $1,000 on May 1, 2022, for instructional and support positions at certain regional programs, as a provision of government services pursuant to the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The funds for which a division is eligible to receive shall require no match by the local government. Programs are encouraged to use additional available funds to provide pandemic bonuses to other eligible school instructional and support positions."

Explanation

(This amendment provides $1.6 million the first year from the federal State and Local Recovery Fund (SLRF) to provide a $1,000 bonus per position to staff of regional special education programs, regional career and technical centers, and CodeRVA. Staff of these programs were not included in the ARPA-funded bonus that was provided for other K-12 employees during 2022 Special Session I. There is a companion amendment in Item 137.)
