Page 511, after line 21, insert:

"C. Out of this appropriation, $50,000 in the second year from the Fire Programs Fund is provided to the Department of Fire Programs for a contract to assist in completing a funding study pursuant to House Bill 2175 of the 2023 Session of the General Assembly. The Department of Fire Programs shall conduct a needs assessment of fire departments across the Commonwealth to include workforce, equipment, and other operational expenses; analyze sustainability of current revenue streams; and review alternative funding models from other states. The Department of Fire Programs shall submit a final report to the Chair of House Appropriations Committee by November 15, 2023."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $50,000 from the general fund the second year pursuant to House Bill 2175, which requires the study of suitability of funding for fire services in the Commonwealth. This amendment is a placeholder until a fiscal impact statement for the bill is produced.)
