"C. Included in the amounts appropriated for this item is $100,000 the second year to establish a Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Grant Program. Grants shall incentivize local governments and regional entities, through a 50 percent match, to implement earlier cancer screening and testing programs for firefighters for the purpose of earlier cancer detection and intervention. The Department of Fire Programs shall provide a status report on the Program to the Chairs of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance and Appropriations Committees by November 1, 2023."

(This amendment provides $100,000 from the general fund in fiscal year 2024 to establish the Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Grant Program at the Department of Fire Programs. The grant program would provide a 50 percent match to incentivize localities to establish early cancer detection and intervention programs for firefighters.)
