"YYYY. The Department of Medical Assistance Services, in cooperation with affected provider groups and relevant state agencies (DBHDS, DHCD, Virginia Housing, DARS, DVS) shall conduct a study: (i) to determine a floor for payments for the provision of housing and employment support services pursuant to the High Need Supports benefit; (ii) to develop a payment methodology that is transparent, fair, and sustainable for pertinent providers and managed care organizations; and (iii) to price services based on factors such as the intensity of services, duration of services, geography, contracted provider per unit cost, and comparable fee-for-service (FFS) service costs. Upon conclusion of the study, the Department of Medical Assistance Services shall make recommendations for appropriate rates for High Needs Supports Services by December 1, 2023."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $175,000 from the general fund and a like amount of federal funds the second year for the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) to conduct a rate study and at the conclusion of the study, DMAS shall make recommendations for appropriate rates for High Needs Supports Services by December 1, 2023.)
