"YYYY. Effective July 1, 2023, the Department of Medical Assistance Services shall amend the Community Living, the Family and Individual Support, and the Building Independence waivers to to add, in the limited circumstances described below, an option for supporting participants in an acute care hospital when necessary supports (including communication and intensive personal care) are outlined in the individual's service plan and are not available in that setting, or when the individual requires support for communication and behavioral stabilization, and such support is not otherwise provided in that setting. Services shall be available for those individuals who are admitted to an acute care hospital while receiving any one of the following services: (i) Group Home Residential; (ii) Sponsored Residential; (iii) Supported Living/In-Home; (iv) Independent Living; and (v) Shared Living."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $3.1 million from the general fund and $4.6 million from nongeneral funds the second year to allow in the Medicaid Community Living, Family and Individual Support, and Building Independence waivers, in limited circumstances, an option for supporting participants in an acute care hospital when necessary supports are outlined in the individual’s service plan and are not available in that setting, or when the individual requires support for communication and behavioral stabilization, and such support isn’t otherwise provided in that setting.)
