Explanation
(This amendment restores $1.2 million from the general fund each year for at-risk child day care services. Funding for at-risk child day care was reduced by $13.4 million each year in the introduced budget. Part of the reduction in funding resulted from more accurate projections of child care spending needs related to automation of the child care program. However, the Department of Social Services indicates that the waiting list for the At-Risk Child Day Care program is 10,323 as of January 1, 2012. Budget language is added requiring additional reporting on child care by provider type and setting.)
