Explanation
(This amendment reduces $44.3 million GF and $44.3 million NGF from federal Medicaid matching funds to correct the estimated cost of providing health care services to children who are currently eligible but not enrolled in Medicaid. The department originally estimated the general fund cost of covering more than 48,000 children was approximately $89 million. The cost of this "woodwork effect", which is related to the expansion of Medicaid coverage under federal health care reform, is projected to be closer to $45 million, resulting in the savings reflected in this amendment.)
