Explanation
(This amendment provides additional funding to support the implementation of Senate Bill 250, which requires local boards of social services and child placing agencies to restore independent living services to youth who opted out of foster care after reaching age 18 but who have not yet reached age 21. Foster youth who continue to receive services after they turn 18 have much better educational outcomes, higher rates of economic success and lower rates of homelessness. The funding is based upon the bill's limited application to youth who seek to have services restored within 60 days of when they leave foster care.)
