Explanation
(This amendment provides $5.0 million each year from the general fund to provide employment, residential, and other community supports for 1,000 individuals with mental retardation (MR) who are not on nor eligible for the MR waiver program. Each year, young adults graduate from special education with vocational, employment and other support needs. This funding is needed to provide services for special education graduates to assist them to remain in their communities and make the most of their education achievements, and adults with MR who are currently living in the community but need additional support to be successful as they grow older.)
