Explanation
(This amendment provides $426.8 million GF the first year and $443.6 million GF the second year based on replacing the current Standards of Quality funded elementary and secondary teacher salary amounts with $52,340, an amount which reflects an estimated national average for teacher salaries for FY 2007, plus a 3.0 percent increase to the beginning of the 2008-10 biennium. These costs do not include related costs for the K-3 Class Size Reduction program. SB 267, as introduced, states that with such funds as are made available, the average teacher salary in the Commonwealth shall not be less than the national average teacher salary.)
