"D.  The Department of Education shall receive $150,000 the first year and $100,000 the second year from the general fund for the comprehensive evaluation of Virginia's Student Assistance Programs (SAP).  Out of this appropriation, $50,000 shall be used to develop a database to capture data on the utilization of SAPs in Virginia.  This database will collect data to measure the efficacy of SAPs and to monitor the impact of SAPs on students, schools, and communities.  One full-time equivalent is provided to develop the evaluation methodology as well as gather and analyze the data.  Beginning October 1, 2009, the Department shall report information and outcome data annually to the Chairman of the Senate and House Education Committees and the Virginia Commission on Youth.".


Explanation
(This amendment provides $150,000 the first year and $100,000 the second year for a comprehensive evaluation of Virginia's Student Assistance Programs. This is a recommendation from the Virginia Commission on Youth's two-year study on alternative education options.)
