Explanation
(This amendment provides $250,000 the first year from the general fund to Norfolk Botanical Garden (NBG). As part of Norfolk Botanical Garden's 70th anniversary celebration, NBG is embarking on an exciting new project to totally change the appearance of the entrance experience to the garden. It will be a change from the current entrance "look," that represents the Garden's history as a city park, to one that more accurately reflects the Garden's 155 acres of horticultural and landscape beauty. The project is divided into three phases, or segments, based on the physical distance between Azalea Garden Road and the toll booth. The three phases of the Garden Gateway Beautification Project are 1) the Azalea Garden Road Gateway Entrance, 2) the Causeway, and 3) the Toll Booth Area. The total cost of the Garden Gateway Beautification Project is $1.5 million.)
