Explanation
(This amendment requests general funds for a phased-in adjustment in the salary structure for the magistrates and chief magistrates. House Bill 903 proposes comprehensive reforms to the magistrate system and includes increased educational requirements for the positions within the system. An increase in the salary structure is needed to retain competent staff and attract candidates who will meet the new educational requirements.)
