Explanation
(This amendment includes additional funding to the Department of State Police in order to provide the department's full-time, sworn officers a variable housing allowance should the 2008 Session of the General Assembly enact House Bill 846. Although the variable housing allowance will be paid to full-time, sworn officers pursuant to regulations developed by the Department of State Police, two factors the department must consider when developing those regulations is the geographic location and pay grade of the officer. The funding included in this amendment provides for the phasing in of this new benefit at 10 percent of House Bill 864's total costs for fiscal year 2009 and fiscal year 2010.)
