"M.  Out of the amounts appropriated for Drug Enforcement, $85,000 the first year and $85,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to support the D.A.R.E program through provision of student workbooks, training for law-enforcement officers serving as D.A.R.E instructions, and other program expenses."

Explanation
(This amendment provides $85,000 each year from the general fund to support D.A.R.E -- Drug Abuse Resistance Education -- a national program in which local law-enforcement officers give elementary and middle school students the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. The amendment provides workbooks for students, funding for the two-week training course for D.A.R.E instructors, and assistance with the annual D.A.R.E. conference. This program has been traditionally a program supported within the budget of the Department of State Police.)
