Explanation
(This amendment provides $160,000 each year from the general fund to establish a Statewide Office for Project Lifesaver, which would develop statewide standards for training, offer training, and distribute equipment across the Commonwealth. Project Lifesaver, which was originally initiated by the City of Chesapeake's sheriff, uses personalized transmitters to locate persons suffering from Alzheimer's and related disorders and autistic Downs Syndrome children. Since its inception, Project Lifesaver has expanded throughout Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region.)
