Explanation
(This amendment provides $700,000 each year from the general fund to rehabilitate soil and water conservation district-owned dams located in the Headwaters, Mountain Castles, and Lord Fairfax districts. Identified by the Natural Resources Conservation Service as priorities for federal dam rehabilitation funds, these dams are located in Augusta, Craig, and Shenandoah counties, respectively. The Headwaters district-owned dams have already been approved by the NRCS for federal funds totaling 65 percent of the costs of dam rehabilitation.)
