Explanation
(This amendment provides $2.2 million each year from the general fund and 40 positions to Catawba Hospital to re-open its 25-bed floor to respond to growing demands for forensic services for individuals with serious mental illness in the criminal justice system. The Roanoke City and County jails are currently holding individuals in need of forensic services. Additional capacity at Catawba Hospital will help ensure individuals are stabilized and discharged with appropriate plans of care and follow-up.)
