"RR.  The Department of Medical Assistance Service shall increase the rate paid for individual supported employment provided under the Medicaid home- and community-based waivers to the average statewide rate level paid by the Department of Rehabilitative Services and establish a mechanism for ensuring comparability of rates over time.  The Department shall implement this change effective July 1, 2008."

Explanation
(This amendment adds language to increase reimbursement for individual supported employment services provided by home- and community-based Medicaid waiver service providers. Supported employment provides support for people with severe disabilities to work in community jobs at a competitive wage. This increase will adjust the rates so they are consistent with the statewide average rate for supported employment rates currently established by the Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) for services provided to disabled individuals who are not eligible for Medicaid-reimbursed services. Rates would change from a Medicaid rate of $17.41 to a DRS statewide rate of $51.45. This change would increase access to supported employment services and diminish the need for other more costly Medicaid-funded waiver services. There is no fiscal impact associated with this change due to the offset in costs of more expensive waiver services for these individuals.)
