Explanation
(This amendment would adjust funding for the Line of Duty Act pursuant to the provisions of House Bill 1436. House Bill 1436 expands coverage for the disability benefit to local employees retroactively to January of 1966, similar to the current policy for state employees. In addition, House Bill 1436 creates a dedicated special revenue funding stream for the Line of Duty program, through a $1 per month fee on individuals or businesses who have monitored alarm systems and an additional $5 charge for the process and service fee. These dedicated revenues would supplant the current general fund appropriation for the Line of Duty benefits.)
