"c. An additional payment of $500,000 the first year and $500,000 the second year from the general fund is included in this item to continue incentive funding for school divisions to seek prorated reimbursement for the cost of industry certifications, assessments and state licensure examinations taken by high school students, and may be used to reimburse for Virginia Workplace Readiness Skills testing.  To ensure continuous improvement and to assist Virginia's business community, the state Board of Education shall establish an annual improvement benchmark for the number of students obtaining industry credentials, which is currently reported on the school performance report card."


Explanation
(This amendment provides $500,000 the first year and $500,000 the second year from the general fund to school divisions that apply for reimbursements for costs related to industry certifications, assessments, state licensure examinations and Virginia Workplace Readiness Skills tests that are taken by high school students. Language directs the Board of Education to develop an annual improvement benchmark for the number of students obtaining industry credentials.)
