Explanation
(This amendment provides $1.5 million the second year from the general fund to Jefferson's Poplar Forest for investigative phases of restoration for archaeological excavation, bricks-and-mortar, land-acquisition and preservation for the property for continued public use. Financial support from the state is essential to sustaining the work to build Popular Forest into a major national tourist attraction and cultural landmark on a par with Monticello.)
