Explanation
(This amendment provides $356,934 the second year from the general fund to support the services offered by the Chesterfield County Community Corrections Dual Treatment Track Program to non-violent criminal defendants diagnosed with both mental illness and substance use disorders. These defendants are required to undergo extensive drug and alcohol testing, medical intervention, and counseling. The services are provided by a multi-disciplinary team under the direction of the Chesterfield County Criminal Justice Board, which includes local judges, the Commonwealth's attorney, the defense bar, mental health agencies, and citizen representatives. If defendants violate the program's terms, jail sanctions are imposed.)
