"G.  Out of the amounts appropriated for Financial Assistance for Environmental Resources Management, $1,000,000 each year from the general fund is provided for research by Virginia's public universities into advanced filtration systems to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations from municipal wastewater treatment facilities, stormwater run-off, and animal lagoon effluent.  The Department of Environmental Quality will work cooperatively with Virginia's public universities to develop policies and procedures for the administration of these research grants."


Explanation
(This amendment provides $1.0 million each year from the general fund to the Department of Environmental Quality for use in providing grants to Virginia's public universities for research into the use of advanced filtration systems for the elimination of nitrogen and phosphorus from various sources entering the Chesapeake Bay and other Virginia waters.)
